Randomosity - Page 6 Empty Randomosity

Post by eeemeee Sun Mar 29, 2009 8:32 am

    First topic message reminder :

I wasn't really sure what to put this sort of thing under... so I figured "Randomosity" would work; a thread for any random, not exceptionally important thing you want to mention to everybody can go. If any of you special peoples can think of anything better to call/do with this thread, go ahead and do it.

Now, on to what I wanted to say. Did any of you celebrate Earth Hour? March 28th, people around the world turn off their lights from 8:30 to 9:30 PM their local time. It's really awesome, because it conserves energy, and also makes for some amazing pictures of whole cities and even sections of the world blacked out. I celebrated it, and my siblings and I had a ton of fun running around and acting crazy in the dark. Very Happy

Oh, and apparently the idea originated in Australia... so therefore it's inherently cool, right? tongue

The answer is made very clear in the Information and Help Desk. If you haven't read the threads there yet, then you're doing something wrong.

'Kay Neerav, I'll try to explain it for you. xD

So, the innermost box thing (with the picture) is supposed to be something issued by the "Council of Australians for Uneducated Americans"-- hence their fun little logo in the corner-- just making sure everyone knows that people don't actually ride kangaroos in Australia.

The middle box thing is responding to the inner box; it says "Of course not. Everyone knows that you ride from the pouch." So said by the "American Assembly for Identifying Stereotypes Of Other Stereotypes Through the Use of Sarcasm." So basically they're using sarcasm to say "Yeah, we already know that, Americans aren't that stupid any more than you ride kangaroos."

And then the outermost box (the "Bloody hell, would you both be quiet" one) is from the "Royal Society for the Repression of Idiots in Former Colonies"... which is supposed to be some English organization for combating idiocy in its former colonies, telling America and Australia (ie former colonies) to shut up. Very Happy

Whoo, explaining jokes is fun. Razz

I'm glad you all found it amusing. 8D

And I had a feeling you'd just love this, Roy.

Not to make that entire post redundant, but I explained the 'joke' to Trivedi in the chat shortly after we both made our posts…by 'explained', I mean I just explained that there were three different sections to it. But he got it in the end.

Ok? Intense stuff? Yeah right! Nick jr has gotten so lame over the years. When I use to watch it at least they had somethings that older kids liked for some odd reason. I never got why when I was in 4th & 5th grade that the kids fought to give a guy in a Franklin costume a hug.
Well since we seem to be giving out totally random links can I join in on the fun? RANDOM LINK YAY! https://2img.net/h/i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll117/Ghostlover6190/WheelofTorture.jpg Ok so not that random being from June's album on photobucket. I don't have 1 so I can just show off her pictures. Ooh wanna see another picture from her album? https://2img.net/h/i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll117/Ghostlover6190/Thief.jpg Yeah the Oregon Zoo. Good times. Well if you call going to feed the lowerketes then 1 steals a cup of necter from some little kid then you listen to him cry so loud you feel like your ears are going to explode then yeah good times.

Does anyone think I should upload a tracing of an old picture I took of myself with Photo Booth one time? The tracing isn't that bad, but I'm still at debate with myself whether to use it as my deviantID or not.

EDIT: Nevermind, the program force quit on me and I hadn't saved it yet. Oh well.

No, a vacant expression is more circular pupils and a lazy-eye. The only thing that makes it remotely close to vacant is the half-lidded eyes.

    So... anybody watching the Olympics?

I have been... but more excitingly, I was just up in Vancouver and it was incredible!

Didn't actually go watch anything (wouldn't have been able to afford a ticket Razz), but because I'm just around two hours south of Vancouver, and I have relatives who live there that let us sleep at their house, we just figured-- hey, let's go up and see the city while the Olympics is on!

Twas absurdly crowded (the queue for the zipline thing was over eight hours), but with the awesome skytrain, getting around wasn't hard at all. I saw the flame-- the queue to get a good view of that was crazy too, but luckily my aunt works at a building right next to it (she can see it from her desk) and she let us go up to the balcony of the building and take pictures there.

We also went to the Olympic Store at The Bay... there was a lineup just to get into the store, let alone buy anything. Razz But I got a CANADA shirt and a cool pin, so I'm quite happy.

And the other awesome thing is that it was quite obvious that there were people from all over the world there. I saw lots of flags-- Canadian more than anything, but also American, German, Norwegian, Australian, Russian. And I also heard snippets of a whole bunch of different languages. Twas quite quite awesome. Very Happy
