I believe a thread of this sort is in order....

Sci Fi! The shows for nerds intellectual badasses of the world! The ones with cool technology, awesome spaceships, scientific technobabble, awesome spaceships, occasionally some stuff that makes sense... and awesome spaceships!

All right, apologies for double-posting, but I thought some generic title thing was in order, so me babbling on about whatever wasn't eternally the header at the top of the thread. Razz

As you might have deduced from the header paragraph, I'm rather partial to shows with awesome spaceships. I quite like the original series of Star Trek-- bonus sixties cheesiness, whoohoo! I haven't seen much of the other series, only a couple episodes of DS9, but they look equally good.

And in regards to something more recent-- Firefly. My goodness. My friend just introduced me to it, and I can't believe that it was cancelled after only 14 episodes! How distressing.

Doctor Who, Doctor Who, Doctor Who, Doctor Who, Doctor Who, Doctor Who…

Both the original series and the series that revived in 2005 are utterly superb.

I mostly only read science fiction, preferring stories that don't involve spaceships.

I've always kind of wanted to watch Torchwood though, despite having never watched Doctor Who (too many episodes to catch up on, it's intimidating).

Doctor Who is Doctor Who; the best form of it, whether the old version or the revived series.

Torchwood is Doctor Who's universe, but people who are aware that they're above the age of consent star as the leads. Unfortunately, it suffers that problem of being a spinoff.

Sarah Jane Adventures…I never could be assed to look into it. Since it's a spinoff, though, I don't assume I'm missing much.

Yeah, I know the basic premise of all three. I personally can't get into a series unless I plan on watching it in its entirety, and as I said, the amount of episodes in Doctor Who makes that a rather impressive task.

Doesn't seem like much of a chore to get through all the episodes to me.

A chore, no. A time consuming ordeal, yes.
