That Sinking Feeling Empty That Sinking Feeling

    Post by Roy42 Sun Jul 19, 2009 2:49 am

Baljeet reunites with an old friend from India, but there is a problem: Now she is a GIRL! Or, possibly a werewolf……… Inspired by their already built cruise liner and a romantic movie watched the previous night, Phineas and Ferb set out on the sea to put together a romantic dinner for Baljeet and his old friend, because everyone knows that romance must have a formulaic approach. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz reveals exactly how a man on such a low budget could afford the great DEI tower.

This was one episode that I was laughing pretty hard at. I feel sorry for baljeet being so underconfident with girls........the overall episode was quite good. The Phinabella references were PLENTY in this episode, and I had to watch it again just to enjoy it better.

My favorite part: The Dining Room scene, where I could not stop laughing at the conversation between Phineas and Isabella......boy was Isabella pissed at Phineas. I feel sorry for her.
Phineas: "So, do I know romance or what?"
    Isabella: "What"
Phineas: "I said, do I know romance or...."
    Isabella: "I heard you!"

As in the previous episodes "Out to Launch" and "The Chronicles of Meap", Phineas is once again oblivious to the crush that Isabella has on him, thinking her as more of a friend than anything else. But to fans of Phinabella, this was pretty amusing and really demonstrates how much Isabella has a crush on Phineas (to the point that Isabella gets pretty mad at Phineas for ignoring her crush).

I got to say, HILARIOUS episode. I was gitty throughout all those amazing Phinbella scenes. They played it off really good. Aliki Theofilopoulos (the writer of this episode and a lot more) does an amazing job pulling off the dry humor and ludicrous experiences that happen in the show. In episodes like this, she proves it XD

Also, gotta love that "The Love Boat" reference during the entire song, lol.

In a way, I found the two funny, but yes, I really do feel for poor Isabella, as would a majority of the fans of the show, and would wonder when will Phineas FINALLY recognzie that Isabella has a crush on him.......who knows, it may be never.

I am kind of have mixed feelings as to whether or not Isabella should REALLY confess her feelings to Phineas. As we have seen so far, Isabella has dropped hints to Phineas that she has a crush on him.......hints that have gotten pretty much unoticed by Phineas. I am not so sure such a major event like Isabella getting around to confessing to Phineas will happen. On the other hand, I like way things are going with the two, such as in this and in previous episodes, as I find Isabella's fustrations with Phineas amusing.

As I've said, in this particular case, it's better to leave them becoming an actual couple to the fanfictions. If there's one thing I didn't find good about Kim Possible, it was that there was never any sort of non-arbitrary explanation for her being able to fight like a ninja. If there's another one, it's that it was completely and utterly bland to me when they actually put Kim and Ron together. It's always better to speculate, at the very least having the couple get together in a 'movie' finale can either be regarded as non-canon, so you can just keep on imagining, or you can make up what happens from there for yourself.

I've said this for just about everything, because it's true for just about everything, when your senses detect something you can't explain, or don't have a 100% factual definition for, it interests you.

As soon as it's explained, it is no longer interesting, not just a personal thought, either, that's how horror works as well, as soon as whatever is killing everyone is explained, it stops being scary to the viewer, with the exception of a select few.

If Phineas and Isabella were to become a couple within the show, especially if it was before the finale, it would stop being interesting, because then there would be no point imagining what the moment that they get together could be like, since they already did it in the show.

I would definitely say that if Phineas and Isabella were to get together as a couple, it would make the interactions between the two characters less interesting. In fact, keeping it the way it is now in terms of the relationship between Phineas Isabella solely as friends would keep fans of the show speculating whether the two will ever get together, thereby keeping them intersted in watching the show. As you can see, it is a way to keep people interested in the show so they can keep watching.

Hmm, I haven't commented on this yet? *fail*

Well, from the very beginning of the episode, when Phineas suggested something romantic for Baljeet's childhood friend just because she looked more girly, I knew there was going to be misunderstanding galore. xD And then when Isabella started taking stuff the wrong way... ah man.

I liked Ferb's quote and the opening lines... hehehe. And I seriously want one of those pink helmet with the tube things. Razz Felt bad for Isabella... her face when she saw it was for Baljeet, aww. And Baljeet and Mishti are such cute friends.

Perry actually lost for once. xD And poor Doofy... working so hard on his model, hoping that Perry would appreciate it. Very Happy The boats following the lighthouse like moths was pretty awesome too.

And I can't believe that the romantic movie Phineas and Ferb had watched was Titanic. Razz Haha, that was hilarious.

Oh, and Rock Band. Carl and Monogram playing Rock Band. Very Happy

I loved the end credits.Doofy goes into bed and thinks he's gonna get some sleep for a change and then the lighthouse hit's his house and the boats barracade him in.Poor Guy he dosen't deserve some of the stuff that happens to him.

I wonder why we haven't seen more of the time and work Doofenshmirtz puts into his models and displays and traps... That scene where Vanessa tells him Perry won't appreciate it is absolutely hilarious. After that, you'd think he'd think twice before doing that stuff again... but then he creates an entire pop-up book for Perry in The Baljeatles xD

And this is what he appearantly does in his free time. All the time.

About the PhinBella "issue", or topic... I agree with people who don't want them to get together, it's funnier as it is now. Isabella's short temper when Phineas is being oblivious is brilliant. Like the:

Isabella: Sure. I still have to get my "You Wouldn't Know Cute If It Bit Your Legs Off" accomplishment patch.
    Phineas: Cool! Let's go.

But The Chronicles of Meap made you wonder if Phineas really is oblivious to Isabella's crush. He does take her cuteness into account (and seems to assume that she knows that), so he could very well know about her crush and just take for granted that she knows this as well.

Yes, despite Isabella's attempts, Phineas has yet to notice her crush. This episode ("That Sinking Feeling") really made that obvious, and in such a way that you would want to see it and discuss it a lot. The part that I mentioned in the first post of this thread is an example of that. As I said before, I do feel sorry for Isabella because her multiple attempts to get through to Phineas has failed, now to the point where she actually gets mad at him, which had me on the floor laughing pretty hard.

    For about 10 seconds, however.

Yes Yaya, I know it's continuity, but still, it seemed like you did want to discuss it and we had gone through much discussion of it on those threads.

Don't break your floor or anything. It can only take so much strain, you know.

I love how Phineas completely failed to notice that the ending of the Titanic romance isn't exactly a happy one. xD Ah, such obliviousness.

    Excuse me for the bump...

Did anyone else find this episode felt a bit like blatant shipper fuel? Like there really wasn't any other point to it? I watch PaF for the immposibly fun adventures, not for the Candermy (or Phinebella), so this episode really didn't satisfy me. Will the series turn into an ongoing romantic comedy by Season 3? Is that what the vast majority of fans want?

That doesn't happen, what does happen, is good, healthy intellectual discussion. You're thinking of YouTube, when you say that.

I'll start, then. No, I don't think it was trying to be shipper fuel, it was still a cool adventure, it was just that they were trying to tease the fans a bit, poke the bear, if you will.
