Fantasy
At the opposite end of the spectrum in regards to Sci-Fi, Fantasy is almost entirely dependent on the reader being able to visualise the description that is far too extravagant for CGI to replicate

Re: Fantasy
So, does anyone else like the Harry Potter series of books, and subsequently think that the last book was kind of a mellow fizzle in comparison to the rest of the story?

Re: Fantasy
Unfortunately I never got into the Harry Potter series. I've watched the movies though, and am anxiously awaiting the one coming out this summer! But, I suppose this is the book part of the forum...

Re: Fantasy
I was a bit disappointed with the last book, yes. It just seemed a bit....dragged out, yaknow? And pretty much all my favorite characters died, which was great, just great.
My favorite book's OotP.

Re: Fantasy
I actually thought the ending of the last book was genius.
Though, I will admit that I didn't like the way that we'd never ever heard of the Deathly Hallows before, and suddenly they turn out to be this major plot element.
- Spoiler:
- The big debate was whether Harry was going to die or not, and the way it was set up, so that it looked like Harry had to die, and had died, but then he didn't, was, I think, a well done and very good bit.

Re: Fantasy
No, I didn't like that either...after the last book came out I reread the whole series looking for some sort of clue but...nothing. Ah, well. No book can be perfect I suppose. I still love 'em.

Re: Fantasy
Your favorite book's OoTP, tiggertine? Interesting...
I'm going to politely disagree that Deathly Hallows was a dissapointment. The Final Battle was just that- a battle- and some people had to lost their lives for the cause. The Epilogue, however...

Re: Fantasy
True a battle isnt a battle if everyone survives but some good characters where killed while others like kingsley where alive.I know some may disagree but i just wish some people where still alive

Re: Fantasy
I'll have to agree with you here. I was not happy with the death of some of the characters.......but I am glad that some of the key ones did make it. Nevertheless, it makes for an interesting ending to a great story.Laughingcheese:) wrote:True a battle isnt a battle if everyone survives but some good characters where killed while others like kingsley where alive.I know some may disagree but i just wish some people where still alive

Re: Fantasy
Battle was incredible, finally the author chooses to kill off almost everyone you liked to see and still leaves the people you never liked to see (like that Slytherin bitch) alive.
Not my favorite book though, but still wasn't a disappointment.

Yeah, the best part of the entire book was Mrs. Weasley killing Bellatrix at the end. xDDD

I forgot who the Slytherin person was, but I did not like her one bit. She should have gone!Roy42 wrote:Battle was incredible, finally the author chooses to kill off almost everyone you liked to see and still leaves the people you never liked to see (like that Slytherin bitch) alive.

The girl towards the end, she saw Harry and wanted to hand him over to Voldemort when he announced it to the Great Hall. I'd check myself, but the books are already in the boxes.

Re: Fantasy
I will have to check also, but I think, as tiggertine mentioned, it may have been Draco's girlfriend. Again, I have to go back and look to see who it was to be sure.Roy42 wrote:The girl towards the end, she saw Harry and wanted to hand him over to Voldemort when he announced it to the Great Hall. Wow........I wonder is she got her influence from being around Draco Malfoy for so long? I don't like him as a character at all, and never did.

Which reminds me, if you were in a House, which one would you probably be in?
I'd probably be in Hufflepuff, as I'm neither cunning, intelligent, nor brave. xD

Hehe, I just took one of those quizzes. Got Hufflepuff with Ravenclaw in very close second, which doesn't make sense because I'm not intelligent at all. xD

Re: Fantasy
I took three different ones. I got Ravenclaw twice and Hufflepuff once. I guess it's Ravenclaw....well I guess I'm kinda smart but I don't think I'm that smart...
